    Default Coloration change

    Hi,

I just want to share my experience when I keep my ornate pacman.

This photo was taken when I got him two weeks ago

Before he was kept by filter mat for the substrate.

The photo below I took this morning

I have changed the substrate by cocopeat and the coloration of the pacman seems to change also. Is it normal for a pacman? Is it one of capabilities of the pacman for camouflage?

    Best Regards,

Could be matching substrate; but some Pacman frogs do change colors as they mature (seen greens go into brown and bright reds of some albinos into a light pink).

Not sure if it's picture effect and/or frog is puffed; but does upper rear leg and near areas feel and react like jelly to touch or feel solid? Thank you !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Wow, hope you did not squeeze it's legs hard. Just watching frog while moving or a slight push with finger should show presence of edema. Frog meat is like ours, kind of soft but solid. Tissue with edema will give way an "move" around if pushed because its fluid.

The color change is normal. They will change color to try and match their surroundings.

I have tried again this morning, yes i can feel that the meat is solid but soft. Also when I soaked him, it seems fluid out from his bottom part
