I bought Alphie 6 days ago and he's a little guy....for now! I'm hoping to take a photo of him about once a month in my hand like this to see how he grows.
Here's my awesome little dude! It hasn't even been a week and I'm already in love with this guy.

I know what you mean. They have such personality. Yesterday I was using a plastic spoon to spot clean my Camo Frog's terrarium and he was trying to eat the spoon, lunged, missed, and ended up with his tongue stuck to the terrarium glass. He got it unstuck shortly there after. But dang that was cute. I just wanted to squeeze him. I resisted the temptation of course and fed him instead![]()
That's not moss you keep him on, is it? I'd get rid of it all and replace it with pure coconut fiber. Big impaction risk.
Cool idea! Are you going to make a video of all the pics eventually?
I did have some moss in the tank originally but soon discovered the risk of impaction here so it's been removed. I actually took the photo while removing it as I had to take Alphie out of the tank to do it. Only ecoearth in his tank now
Maybe I will, that's a good idea![]()
I looked in the tank to check on Alphie today when I got home from work and saw that he had moved....and left a giant poo in his place
I was happy to see it of course, I was a little nervous as he is still new to me. But he has been eating well and I'll take this as a further sign of happiness!
His new spot seems to make him content, nestled under a plant leaf near the heat pad

Yup poop is always a good sign! Tells you that everything is flowing good
Another good sign from my little guy
This week there's been a cricket in his tank chirping and driving us INSANE (the tank is the room next to the bedroom). After one night I tried to catch it with no luck, it kept going into the substrate, etc. On the second night it was still there and I went to get it again, by this time I was beginning to worry about why Alphie hadn't eaten it.
Well when I turned the light on I saw why, Alphie was shedding his skin! I wish I'd had a camera handy because it was a very cool thing to watch.
Now he's back to himself and no cricket has been left standing![]()
