Default Pacman in a ten gallon??

Hey ff, I have an empty ten gallon long tank in my garage and wanted to get a frog in there. I was thinking about a pacman and was wondering if I could put one in there. I hear they get pretty big I would also like to know what they would need to live happy and healthy lives

Welcom to the frog forums! Fill this out plz and we can get you set up properly from the start. Let us know how your planning to keep your frog. A 10 gallon in fine for a 3 inch frog to an adult male cranwelli. Anything smaller and you will need a critter carrier. For an adult ornate you should probably get something bigger.

Yes you can, if it's 3-3.5 in. or more snout to vent (SVL). If smaller (little guys get stressed by larger enclosures) can locate a smaller breeder box or critter keeper inside the 10 gallon and release after it grows out. Can only think of a large Ornate female needing a larger tank.

You will need a screen top, substrate (Plantation Soil or EcoEarth mixed with dechlorinated water until slightly damp and clumps in fist without squeezing water out), a water dish that fits whole frog with water to chin level) and a plant or something to provide stress shelter. To provide heat will need a lamp either in dome (Fluker's got some nice ones with dimmer) or a top. Domes can hold infra red or ceramic heat and regular bulbs too. You do not need UV type bulbs! If an "albino" can only use non-daylight type bulbs. Lamps dry the air so if more than 100-125W are required; it's better to supplement with heat mats affixed to side. Also, will need supplements administered weekly; CA/D3 2X and vitamins 1X on different days with skip day in between.

That should be enough to get you started, but do please read this article and visit the Pacman section for more information: Frog Forum - Pacman and Horned Frogs - Ceratophrys - Care and Breeding . Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
