Plants for Paludarium

Hi all

I'm currently in the process of building a paludarium in a 10g that will include a small waterfall trickling down the background. I've seen photos of what look like various ferns and mosses growing on solid backgrounds in the trickle, and I'd love to have the same. Can anyone please advise as to the best species to use and the best means of securing them? I'm new to plants of the non-aquatic kind!

P.s. I'm on a very limited budget, so hopefully there are some easily available, very cheap species to use!

a pothos is a good start and you can get some others quite cheap off ebay,

It's a shame that particular shop is closed at the moment, although I guess it's nice for them to have to close due to too many orders

Plant selection in a paludarium needs to have a lot taken into consideration. Environment plays a big part. Temp, humidity levels, soil drainage all play part. You can't just grab any fern and throw it in because some like humidity, so don't. Some like having their roots wet, some prefer to dry out before needing more water. Design also plays a big part, such as your transition from land to water. Will there be a bog area? Aquatics like crypts love bog conditions. As do some terrestrials, like a horsetail fern. Attachment methods vary, and a lot depends on the plant. You can tie, wire, zip tie, superglue, or just place them. Whenever I build a palu, I take the most time with plant selection. I think it's one of the most important parts of building a paludarium.
