I use a well-known hormone and vitamin mixture called "Superthrive" on most of my outdoor and indoor plants. Curious if anyone knows whether it is safe for frogs in terrariums.
Me personally I would err on the side of caution and say no.
Everything I've ever heard or seen says no fertilizers and especially I would be very hesitant about hormones.
Just my two cents.
You guys are probably right. I'd been cautious so far, but every time I look at the bottle I see "safe" everywhere so was wondering. The manufacturer never answered my email.
Frogs absorb water and most everything present in environment through skin. Think we do not want plant hormones and vitamins inside frogs !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Superthrive is a vitamin based compound designed to boost growth hormone production in plants, to increase yield. Not even considering the safety of the frogs, I can't think of one logical argument to use it in a vivarium. It's not like it's a fertilizer, so there's no need for it, unless you are planning on growing a bumper crop of tomatoes in your Viv lol
