Exclamation Help with found toad please!

    Hello all,

I found this toad at my local clay quarry, and I picked it up because of the unnatural "tumor" on its skin. I have no clue what it is, but would like to ask for advice on this forum. Is there anyway to treat the toad? Will it be ok?
I am attaching pictures of the toad for convenience. If you cannot tell in the pictures, the "tumor" has a blood colored tint to it and is soft when touched. I have handled it with care, and it is currently sitting in a stand-by terrarium I filled with soil.
I would like to help it and either keep it as a pet (already have one) or release it back into the wild (preferred). I will keep it if necessary.

Any and all help/advice is appreciated! Thank you!

Beautiful looking toad, but I have no idea what it could be. Watch it for 24 hours and see if it changes. It almost looks like a fly larvae sticking out.

Kinda looks like a blood blister, as tho he was stung or pinched. Or maybe he's the 1st toad with an actual wart. Really nothing you can do but watch it and him for now. Might not need treatment if it's just a benign growth. If no change after a few days or if it shrinks, and toad is otherwise acting healthy, should be fine to release back outside. If it gets bigger, oozes, seems like it's causing him pain, or worse in some other way, a herp vet visit may be needed.

Or maybe someone's seen this type of thing before and will swoop in to save the day. Hoping for the best.

The toad is doing great now, thanks for your concern! After a month of ointment cream, a good habitat, and lots of food, the toads injury has healed! It turned out that it was in fact from a sting or bug bite. I found it odd that it took such a long time to heal though.
Below are pictures in order to show the toads recovery. Also, I tried to help show growth by putting my hand/fingers in for comparison of the pictures.

I can't see pics but maybe when I get home on PC. So glad he's better! You must've taken great care of him. Are you going to adopt him or release?

I can't see any of the pictures either. Would you mind trying to reattach them?

Who can resist the power of the toad.........I know we can't. I'm guessing this will be another spoiled rotten, well feed, well kept toad.

I would definitely love to! I would also like to say that along with being fully recovered, he is no longer the shy little guy I originally found. The pictures were extremely hard to take because he would rather try to crawl up my arm instead of sitting still! I'd love to adopt him, honestly, but i'm still undecided!

Looks great and too cute. I think he might be a she tho. Don't see any dark patch on throat. She's probably attached to you now, her healer. Nah not really but seems like she's used to you which is a point some never really get to. Not sure if it's best to release in spring or fall, but if you kept her, she wouldn't call come spring. Just sit quietly and get fat. And if it is a he, the calling is cute.

Thanks! I thought it was a girl as well, but was never too sure! If only she would be attached to me, haha.

I don't know what the weather is like there. But here the toads have all burrowed for the winter. It's much too cold for them to be out and about. It's supposed to snow this week. So, if it's too cold I would at least keep her for the winter.
