ACF bodies dehydrate very quickly outside of the tank and it is usually recommended for an escapee to be put in a shallow container right off the bat unless it has been out for just a moment.
The shredding is normal - the drop, floor, debris etc are very irritating to the frog's skin so they shade to remove them and heal.
Keep your eye on him. If he has any other struggles then lower the water level so that the frog is just barely submersed.
I do recommend a substrate change - the colored stones are easily bite size and could cause a significant amount of damage, pain and death because they are too large to be passed.
