Feeding adjustments

Is it possible to get my cranwelli to feed while the lights are still on? I want to get Jamie to feed at least ten minutes before lights out everyday. Lights being 7 pm. I failed to get Jamie on a schedule and i am paying the price. I will wait about 3 days until i feed him/her again to get him/her to forget about the last feeding a. Also, her feeding response died again, how do I fix it and keep it fixed?

schedule lights out earlyer. That is the right way to make your frog adjust. horned frogs are nocturnal, you can't ask them to be like us. My cranwelli will eat day or night, I'm just lucky with her.

When I first had my frog, he/she gulped in a few crickets in the middle of the day with the light on. I don't remember any specific times but i do know that it was late afternoon and i had a 13 watt i UVB bulb going. I know that my frog will east during the day so i want to schedule it sometime in the evening. I'm not trying to force it to do anything i just don't want the lights of while I feed my frog. So if i were to keep offering food at around 6 or 7 pm would he get used to the pattern? Thanks in advance

How often and how much is your frog eating?

I think I've seen several threads you've posted over a short time about your frog not eating well, and honestly I doubt it's from lack of scheduling. Yes, they do eat better on a schedule and after lights out, but usually if they are hungry enough that alone will not keep them from eating for that long.
Are you certain the temp/humidity are correct? What sort of thermometer/hygrometer are you using? Some kinds can be very inaccurate. It just sounds like your frog has been refusing to eat or eating very little for a long time now, and that just doesn't sound like something that's just due to scheduling.

Unless your frog is in a room that has no windows, it can almost definitely tell that 6 or 7 o'clock isn't night-time especially during summer. They can tell the difference between day/night at the bottom of the rainforest floor with trees and vines blocking most of the sun, so even if the tank isn't in direct light, they know when it's nighttime. If you really think your frog won't eat because it thinks it's daytime, you should be bumping lights out further back.

Also, try feeding a few minutes AFTER lights out as opposed to before. It may not be as convenient for you, but if your frog isn't eating well it's a lot more likely to eat after dark than before.

If they're both for seven dollars, they're probably the more inaccurate kind... But go ahead and put up a link just in case you ended up with an amazing deal. A hand-held laser thermometer is the most accurate. They're like twenty dollars at Petco and they last a long time. The ones you stick on the side of the tank can be off by like seven or eight degrees.

Yes the hand helds are accurate and I like mine but it only reads the surface area temps, not the ambient air temps. Well at least mine doesn't. But definitely go digital.

You should get your frog eating good before attempting to feed out side the enclosure, if you did right now you would probably stress the frog out more and cause it to eat even less.

Guys guys, it isn't much if an eatin refusal, Jamie just has a horrible feeding response, i have to rub the worm on his/her lip for a out 40 seconds or more until he bites it

That's really not that bad. Some frogs bite quick, some frogs bite slow.

If you get an analog reader your just wasting your money. Trust me. I would go to petsmart and spend the 20 dollars on a digital. You would end up paying the same amount from amazon with shipping if you got an analog from there.

The digitals aren't very expensive. Only about 20 dollars... So less than what you paid for the frog probably. That's like four meals at McDonald's.
These frogs really need their heat and humidity to be spot on. If you don't have a working thermometer or hygrometer in there, I can guarantee you the temps are not in the right range.

... If the frog is eating it's not as big of a worry. But like I said earlier, if you want it to get more excited about the food, try turning lights off around 8-ish and feeding after that. Unless they're in a windowless room 'fake' nighttime in the middle of the afternoon won't change much.

So My frig is eating he just has a bad feeding response. Is it ok for me to feed him in a separate container daily? I will get a digital thermometer as soon as i can so i can find our the ancient temperatures and humidity. Around 10 pm tonight he suck his head out just like mojo does but u dropped a worm in front of him and wiggled it in front of him but he responded with cooking the top of his head with substrate. He does tong feed during honey baths, so is it ok if i feed him I'm a separate container daily? Will out stress out the frog to much? Will it stress him out at all?
