So it seems as tho my pacman is getting agitated always getting a mouth full off coconut husk, he'll always eat the first nightcrawler or cricket, but hesitate after eating the night crawler half full of husk. ive been tong feeding him with the worms but he always rips it out of the tongs. I decided to take him outta the tank and feed him on my desk and see if he would eat another worm then, in which this case he did. Is this okay? he seems really comfortable with me![]()
There are a lot of frog owners that feed out side the tank. Make sure to still use tongs and not fingers. If you use fingers they will incorperate them as food also.
Would put him some sort of container though so he can't jump off the desk
I often feed my Pyxie that same way, and she never misses a meal. And when you say "coconut husk" you mean plain coconut fiber? Not this stuff? Big impaction risk.
Are his temps correct? If they are too cool his digestive tract can become imbalanced causing some food to be undigested or not completely digested when expelled.
Buy some Fluker's Repta Boost and dust his worms with it every other feeding to help correct his imbalance.
That's a bit hot for horned frogs. Day temps should be in the low 80s during the day, high 70s at night. Humidity should be closer to 80%. If you're having trouble with the temps and humidity I'd turn to a Hygrotherm. You can get them on Amazon for only $40 (as opposed to up to $100 at any pet store). Though you'll need a humidifier along with it. Some use the Repti-Fogger but I hated the thing so I modified a cool mist humidifier instead.
Alternatively, you can cover part of the habitat's top with plastic wrap. That will hold in humid air for longer.
yeah I know im waiting on my dimmer lights I ordered, and I have tin foil on mine
i feed my pacman frog his food from my fingers, he doesn't bite me or incorporate my fingers as food.
