    Default Feeding Time

I've recently heard that pacman frogs should be fed at night from multiple sources. I've been feeding him everyday between 2-4pm. Does it really matter?

    Do you have an ornate?

I feed at 930 at night when I do feed. About an hour after lights out. Its best to keep them on a schedule. If you mess up a schedule its kinda hard to get them back on track which is a lesson I learned the hard way. Took me about a week and a half to get back on track.

Ah nm you do have an ornate. Ornates are great eaters and the second largest pacman frog I do believe. They will typically eat any time of day where cranwellis will mostly eat at night. Just keep him on the current schedule. I would try and make a definite feeding time though. If you need to adjust the feeding schedule adjust it in small amounts over a period of time.

Yes I do have an ornate, so you also do night feeding? is it bad though if he eats in the afternoon?

I have a cranwelli so I definitely feed at night. Might want to ask someone that has an ornate. But I'm pretty sure its fine as long as you keep a schedule.

ornates are diurnal, most are aggressive feeders and don't care day or night as long as it is food or looks like it ( fingers will do too) they'll go for it.

cranwelli on the other hand are nocturnal and for a better feeding response you should feed about 30min after the light are off and temp drop, that is when they feed in a wild.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!

Okay, also ive been feeding him within his enclosure and a lot of the food is getting substrate stuck all over it (especially the night crawlers) I hope the substrate is of ease to swallow, not sure how I can keep the food clean

All Pacman species are nocturnal, but some have occational diurnal activities. Ornates and caatinga have diurnal activities and can be offered food whenever they appear active.

That's why we use the eco earth. The frogs can pass it. There has been times when Mojo has missed things entirely and got huge mouth fulls of eco earth. Work on tong feeding and you can reduce the amount of substrate he takes in.

Mine is an Ornate and eats like a beast at night. He used to be very lazy but lately he lunges at the tongs and wants to swallow them too lol.

I normally feed my frogs at night time, around 830 ish. I do this because it matches my daily schedule and because Pacmans are norturnal for the most part. Nevertheless, feeding response has been great.

I've been feeding my ornata during the day too. Usually at 11am. He seems ready and willing to eat at all hours so I plan on sticking to this feeding schedule unless he starts refusing food. I don't know if its the same with frogs or not, but I have fed my leopard gecko, also at 11am, for the past year and he has become more active during the day because of it. I don't know if this will be true for my pacman frog. Not, that pacmans are really active anyways.

Gotcha. And yeah around 3pm works for my daily schedule and he always has at least something to eat everytime I offer him food around that time so it seems to be working fine as of now
