Hi there, and welcome to the forum!![]()
Frogs can be little Houdini's sometimes!
Even treefrogs sometimes bury themselves in their substrate if they're stressed or feeling unwell. If you can't find the frog hiding in any plants, it's a possibility he's buried himself.
If you need to find him, VERY GINGERLY/CAREFULLY start to loosen the substrate, and try to locate the frog. If you haven't had him for long, he's probably very scared and stressed from being in a new home. When you find him, ensure he has lots of plants to hide amongst, and that you cover three sides (the back and two sides) of the terrarium in dark material (preferably dark green) to make him feel more secure. Also try not to handle him for a week or so
Good luck, and keep us updated!

Hi,
Were you able to find your frog?
Gabby makes an excellent point.
I can't tell you how many times I though a frog "got out".
There have been times I searched, w/help, for hours. Boy, can they hide !
If you have not found him. Leave lots of shallow bowls of water and bowls of crickets on the floor near the enclosure.
Make the room completely dark at night.
Lave any closet doors open if there is any possible way he could have gotten in.
Sneak down in the middle of the night to see if he is near, on, or in one of them.
Please keep us posted

Pippin a few weeks ago went through a phase of burying herself in the moss of her terrarium... I had to dig her up each morning to give her her calcium soak haha (she was showing signs of MBD... thankfully that's allgood now)
And once, I was taking all the froglets out to feed and deep clean the terrarium, and I couldn't for the life of me find Frodo... turned out he'd managed to squeeze himself behind the Exo-Terra background! He's a silly goober![]()

i have not yet found iti will do the shallow bowl and food bowl things tho.
unfortunately, there wasnt much for substrate for it to bury itself in. i had it in a paper towel lined tank to quarantine before moving it to a better enclosure eventually... i had a couple potted plants in the enclosure but there was no dirt moved out of the pots at all. oh well. hopefully it will show it! it was such a beautiful color.
