Looks like a male, but if you didn't know he is a Dwarf Pyxi. Pyxicephalus edulis.

On average the Dwarfs reach about 5" to 5.5" SVL and occationally they can reach 7" SVl so your frog has the potential to be large if taken care of well.

Did you buy him online or at a local pet shop? Was it labeled a giant?

Can a dwarf male pixie still eat mice?

It can, use them sparingly. Once a month max. Do not use large ones, a "fuzzy" is fine.

So a giant can eat much more mice

There is really no difference in feeding rodents to a giant or dwarf, perhaps the size of the rodent is all. If it's a giant or a dwarf, you still do not want to offer it mice often. It's not healthy for the frog.

SCF is correct about mice. They should be offered sparingly. No more than once per month, but are not necessary at all.

There really is no rush to offer a rodent into his diet, BUT how large is your frog SVL?

It's most likely only a few months old.

    Edit: maybe two to five.

When he is 3" you can offer him a Pinky mouse. Be sure to dust the rump with calcium+D3 because pinkies lack developed skeletal system so calcium will be lacking.

Now rodents are extremely high in fat and for this reason they must be offered sparingly. Health issues will develope later down the road if fed too often with rodents. Offer prekilled frozen/thawed rodents. There is really no need to offer live rodents as prey. He same benefits are there whether the rodent is alive or frozen/thawed.

Whats more fun a dwarf or giant? Is there a reason everyone wants a giant? Benefits to having a dwarf?

Well a dwarf has a fun level of 7.9 and giant has a fun level of 7.6.

No just kidding, there is no real difference. Dwarfs have their own unique look compared to giants, and giants get a little bit bigger. At the end of the day, it's a pet, it has no choice in how it looks. It's your choice to love it and take care of it regardless if it's an inch smaller than you wanted or is a different sex than you wanted. It has no choice how it was born, and it literally depends on you to take care of it.
