Hi everyone! I am new to frogs and the forum. My experience is with reptiles but I fell in love with these 2 frogs at my local pet store. One is a Red-Eyed Leaf Frog and one is a Wallace's Flying Frog. The guys there told me they can be housed together since they are both tree frogs and of similar size. I've had them for just over 2 weeks now and I'm not sure if the arrangements are working very well.
They do not eat very much at all. I've offered crickets in a feeding dish as well as turning them loose in the enclosure. I have also added appropriate sized Dubia roaches in the dish as well. I know they are supposed to be active and feed during the night but sometimes they will go for days and not move from their sleeping spot (day or night). After I got them the Red-Eyed Leaf Frog started eating a little after a few days but the WFF didn't eat for 9 days. I took him out and put him in a large cricket keeper one night with crickets and he was active all night and did eat some. The next day I returned him to the enclosure with the Red-Eyed Leaf Frog and he has only been out and about one night out of 5 or so. Is this normal behavior???
So, I don't know if I am doing something wrong or if they just should not be housed together. Any insight or suggestions would be great. I don't want to cause harm. Thanks!!! Here is some info on my setup.....
18x18x24 Exoterra Terrarium
lots of fake plants/vines
small waterfall
Substrate is Eco Earth and Sphagum Moss
Temps kept between 75-80 daytime (measured digitally) 70-75 Night time
Humidity between 40-50% (I've read so much conflicting info on what this should be) misting 3x/day
Feeders are no larger than the distance between their eyes.
get rid of the moss,
I am not too sure on the temps or humidity for either, but keeping different frogs in the same hab is not a good idea.
they might have different temp and humidity requirements.
