My young c.ornata never buries himself. He digs just enough to cover his back feet and that is it. He does hid under the leaves from his plants though. I know he can bury himself because he did it in his little container when I took him home nearly 3 weeks ago and he did it again last week when I moved him to a bigger terrarium. However, he still only dug down about half the height of his body and promptly unburied himself in about an hour. Is this normal? He does have plenty of dept to bury himself completely if he wanted to. I have also tried loosening up the dirt near where he hangs out but he is jut not interested.
Another question: What should the humidity be in the pacman terrarium? Mine is about 65%, is that good?
It's fine if frog does not bury itself. IRT humidity, keep mine between 70-80% but have read that it's OK if above 60% and below 80%. More information here: Frog Forum - Pacman and Horned Frogs - Ceratophrys - Care and Breeding.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
