Is it time to decrease the number of feeding days ?

Hello,

My ornate's appetite seems lower than before yet his weight is good and he looks great too. He is about 3" svl.

Should I feed every other day now? Lately he just eats two pieces and refuses to eat more; so what I did was give him LARGER pieces because by looking at his size he should be eating more. His habitat is perfect as I have followed every single advise you guys have given me.

So I think maybe he just doesn't want to eat every day? Not sure how old he is, maybe 3-4 months and he might be a male because I hear this random quacks at night.

Mojo has slowed down on his eating also. He wont eat any cut worms and rarely goes for crickets anymore, i guess he only likes big prey. I am starting a feeding log to keep track of his vitamin/calcium and how much he eats. I know that as these guys get bigger they slow down on thier eating. I still always feed Mojo when he is hungry. He is good at telling me when he wants to eat.

They do tend to slow down as the mature. Adults can get by with only one feeding per week, but it is best to offer more to keep their metabolism up.

Yea I noticed his appetite has kinda slowed down because he refuses to eat more than 2 tong attempts per feeding session. So I feel like I have to give him a lot in those two attempts before he stops trying. Should I really feed every other day ?

My guy lunchbox has also started to refuse his usual feeding. He normally ate everyday, but he is only 2" SVL. and also he hasn't pooped at all in the time I've had him, going on 5 days.

Iceman, try a nice lukewarm dechlorinated water soak with 2 to 3 drops of plain honey in it. Soak him for about 15-20 minutes. Then rinse out the water bowl and refill with regular dechlorinated water or spring water without honey to remove remain honey on his skin. This helps them to poop.

Be sure your daytime temps are 80-82'F. The daytime temps help them to digest properly, and keep their metabolisms up. Keep that humidity up at 70-80%, best at 80%.
