Default Huzzah!! Lunchbox will now eat nightcrawlers!

After a long wait, Lunchbox the pacman will now take nightcrawlers! He ate about 4 big pieces before I cut him off. About 3/4 of a whole worm! Now the issue is he keeps getting substrate in his mouth and swallowing it. I am worried about impacting his gut. I have been tong feeding too and he still manages to get bits of jungle mix in his mouth, not big pieces though. Also I have had him since Saturday, it is now Tuesday and he hasn't, well, pooped! Should I soak him in slightly warm water? I have also heard of adding honey to it? I am starting to get concerned but it is just new-owner jitters. How often should a two inch frog being going to the bathroom? I feed him crickets and now nightcrawlers daily. Any info is appreciated, thanks y'all!

Night Crawlers will not cause impaction and as long as he doesn't get any pieces of bark or moss there should be no worries.

Switch to Eco Earth Coconut Fiber substrate.

    Huzzah!!
Did you get Huzzah from Mystery Science Theater?
"Look on the wall behind you. Look at that little girl's face. I know you've seen it. But you know what she's never going to be able to see? She's never going to be able to see the simple wonder of a leaf in her hand. Because there's not going to be any trees. Now you think about that."

Don't "cut him off" or stop feeding a Pacman frog until it losses interest in food, they do not overfeed. Bed a beast has pieces of bark and giant fern that could get your frog impacted and you do not want that. Recommend replace it with right substrate ASAP. In the meantime, could place a low small plate or similar in front of frog with worms on it.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Don't worry about the pooping, I soak my girl in luke warm declorynathed water and she doesn't always poops, she poops about once on 3 months on average and she seems to be just fine. But, when she poops, it smells like death itself. Also, don't worry about bits of substrate, it's only when they eat entire chunks that they can get impacted. You could try feeding from a higher position though if your really worried.

i guess that goes without commenting..... Hypnotic - are you trying to be funny or it is just typo?

to Iceman - Grif and Carlos got you covered, change the substrate, the less you risk the better when it comes to the things like impaction, i don't think you wanna deal with it
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!

Nope, I'm serious. Unless she keeps hiding it under the substrate and I keep missing it, wich I doubt. She has a healthy appetite and I soak her once a month, but she doesn't always poop.

I take it that she burrows down for long periods of time without surfacing? If this is the case then the frog is trying to Aestivate. As long as the climate is maintained correctly the frog cannot fully Aestivate and as long as the frog does't lose weight during this mini hibernation period the frog will be fine, but I will recomend that you refrain from giving overly large meals incase she becomes impacted or the food begins to rot in the frog's stomach causing septic shock and death.

Once every three months is abnormal unless the frog is partially dormant and even then it would be once per month.

Thanks everybody for the information! I just got some Eco earth and I am going to change it right now! I'm still working on how to post pictures. As far as the pooping issue I am going to soak Lunchbox in slightly warm water for about 15-20 mins and see if I can get a turd!.... Never thought I'd say that haha! But I'm still a little confused about how often a baby PAC should be going to the bathroom. I've heard anywhere from once a day, to now once every three months. Can someone give me a clear answer? Thanks again folks.

Well, I'm not sure about it then, she eats normal, she never burrows all the way down, I've always fed her large meals so far, 4-5 locusts twice a week once a month replaced with a mouse. Should I try soaking her more often? As far as I can remember, she only pooped once on her own, and she din'd even move from her burrow for that, she just kicked it aside ontop. Aside from that, she never visits her waterdish. Or should I try adding some nightcrawlers to her diet to see if it improves? I'm still not sure where to get nightcrawlers, just a normal baitshop? Or how does everyone here get them?
