We got the extension folks! Keep your eyes peeled! We'll need all the support we can get during the extension period for public comment so please stay tuned if you care about the future of herpetoculture!

Herp Alliance Helps Secure 60 Day Extension on CatX!

Today the US Herpetoculture Alliance was notified by US Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) that our formal request for extension of the "public comment" period for Categorical Exclusion (CatX) will be honored. The Herp Alliance would like to thank all of the individual stakeholders, the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA), and the Zoological Association of America (ZAA) for joining our request for extension. We would like to give a special thanks to Senator David Vitter, Ranking Member of the Senate Environmental & Public Works Committee, and Congressman Tom McClintock of the House Natural Resources Committee for supporting our bid for an extension.

The current public comment period expires at midnight tonight. It will be re-opened in the near future for 60 days. This is an incremental victory to build on. Now we must motivate thousands to make informed intelligent public comment. We got our extension... Now we must do something with it!

Thank you to everyone who contributed! Let's get to work! Together we can overcome CatX; the greatest threat to herpetoculture in the history of our community!
