*Sigh*
I am so new at this and I just want to do everything right. I have my 2.5 gallon tank at work. It's only been here 2 days. I originally bought all this because I was told I could keep a fish at work. I was never able to do that before and I guess it was kind of an impulse buy. But I wanted to do everything right and buy all the right products so they would live long enough. Now I'm regretting bringing them to work. All I do is worry about them. "Why aren't they moving?" "Is my little froggy okay in that hiding place?" I would feel so much better if they were home with my husband.
Tell me if this plan is okay.
About 5 minutes before I leave I will empty out 50+ % of their tank and with their water put them in a medium sized CLEAN Tupperware with the lid on and have them somewhere safe in my car on the 30 minute drive home.
Concerns: Hot car. The sun has been on my car all day and it's not boiling hot, but hot enough. I can blast the air on right when I get in. Also, will they be okay with the lid on the Tupperwear? How much strain is this going to put on them being moved again and in a bumpy car probably all splashing around in there?
Am I doing this right?
Hi Jessica! If tupperware has never been washed with soap or detergents, it should be fine. Remember frogs breath air so fill it halfway up. If you have washed this bowl with soap; then get 2 large ziplock bags to use as a liner or your local pet shop should give you two fish bags (to double bag them) for free. A dark grocery bag covering everything would be nice to reduce stress. When get to car, turn windows open and AC on. As soon as you drive off the wind will move the hot air out and then you can close them. Have a safe trip !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Thank you so much!! I got them home successfully in their tank. I just lowered the water very low. They were fine when they got home and they were fine this morning. I think they are much better off being at home. My husband checked out them an hour ago and says they are swimming around like normal.
