Well, my toad is finally starting to spend way more time out of her burrow, so I decided to make her cage awesome as a 'Welcome Back!' I even started a worm, slug, spring tail, and pill bug colony in there so her poop gets cleaned up and she can hunt whenever she wants.

Thank you!

Id also venture to say that the lovely Lola is actually a male. However someone more experienced on here should confirm this. I've read that a dark throat is an indicator of a male in American toads
I think that's just dirt on her throat. When she's clean her throat is the same color has her belly. Also, when I pick her up the sides she doesn't chirp. Also, her legs are skinny and her cranial crests are tiny.

Wow very nice setup. Also beautiful toad. I wish my tank were so nice looking. But it is very simple. Nothing fancy. My toads like to mess their tank up. Knocking everything over. Pushing their hides around and get coco fiber in their water and make mud lol. So I went back to a simple setup. Hopefully your girl will be a lady and not wreck your hard work!
She'll occasionally burrow, but I think she knows that I hate when she does!

Very cool cage! I am sure your toad loves it. I was wondering what you put down on the floor of her cage? Is it bark? I have gravel in my toads cage, but I feel like maybe I should switch to something else, but I am not sure what yet.
Don't use gravel- the toad can eat it and it causes death. I use coco fiber with moss on top.

I use gravel, because I often see the wild Western toads outside on the gravel. Both of mine are ingured rescues. Were do you get coco fiber? Is it available at any pet store? Thanks.
Petco usually has it, but I'm sure you'r local pet stores carry it

Thanks! I will go get some of that and lay it down on the floor of her cage.
