ok I have a normal green tree frog and I found this little guy hanging on the outside of my house. he doesn't look like a normal tree frog like my other one
Is he supposed to be pale like that?

From the white spot under his eye, he appears to be a gray. That would be either hyla versicolor or hyla chrysoscelis. Does he have bright yellow/orange flashing under his back legs? They are awesome little frogs. They're like little amphibian chameleons.
Oh, and as for his coloring, mine will change from a patternless pale khaki to a medium gray with almost black patterns. He looks fine.
o yeah he did seem to have orange color under his legs and he was kinda bumpy looking. Will he be ok in with my green tree frog. I dont have another terrarium to put him in. he was very active hanging off my screen lid and everything. I green tree frog just kinda chills and isn't very active
I don't have personal experience with keeping greens. I've read that these two *can* be compatible. They have similar care requirements. I've also read that that you should never mix species. So, I cant really say. Maybe someone who has housed the two together will come along with an answer. :-/
The grays are bumpy. And very active! Mine sleep all day, but go crazy at night. I'd probably get more sleep if I didn't keep them in my bedroom. I stay up all night watching them. Oh, well. Who needs sleep, right?![]()
Then you should put him back outside. You should never put a new frog in with your existing frog(s) without a quarantine period of at least 30 days.
Assuming you 'normal green frog' is a Hyla cinerea, then yes these are species that some experience keepers have successfully kept together. However, mixing species is not something someone new to keeping frogs should really ever do- you'll have no way of knowing if it's behavior is 'off' as you have no idea what it's normal behavior should be. If you want to keep a Gray, Get a separate tank ready before you acquire one.
Uncle chester is right. Reality of it may be harsh for you but its true. They are native to the same area but you have no idea if you can put them together until you get both tested for disease and have done the proper treatments. Im sorry you should release the frog =/. Think of the frog before yourself =) We need them outside to control our darn mosquito problems!! Get a captive bred one =) Start setting up a tank in the meantime for a second frog =)
