My first frog was Citrus my Ornate Horned Frog. I was on Youtube one day and found a video of an African Bullfrog and instantly became obsessed with them. But I'm only 16 so my parents said no because they're apparently ugly and disgusting creatures but I think they are cute frogs despite their size. They said I could have a nice looking frog. After doing some research I came across the Pacman Frog and bought one at a local pet store. Anyway that's how I ended up with my first frog. I bought him in November 2012 and I now I actually have a male African Bullfrog as well and I'm getting some White's Tree Frogs next week.![]()
Great topic, I was In the middle of fighting Cancer and I needed something to keep me occupied. I came accross Fire Belly Toads, i bought 2 for a 10 Gal tank, the 2 turned into 5 over night and that 10 gal tank turned into a 40 gal by the weekend.
Now I'm addicted, i have 6 different species and i continue to build tanks for more future Frogs, I have 4 empty tanks stacked ip in my basement waiting.
I cant stop myself, a casual hobby turned into an addiction and obsession.

One of the doctors I work for brought in tadpoles and said that her kids have never had them turn into frogs. I was determined to try and I succeeded until they died shortly after morphing. It was such an amazing learning experience that I had to go out and get 2 whites tree frogs, which has now turned into 5 whites tree frogs!

I was looking up info for for caring for green frogs, because I had caught one for one of the people I take care of at work. Saddly that research was to late and the frog had obvious signs of severe mbd and who knows what else, so I put him down to end his suffering and felt horrible. But while doing this research I came across pacman frogs and immediately fell in love. I spent the next month or 2 researching and setting up an enclose. Then picked up Morbo from a lps. Now 9 months later she is doing wonderfully, and my collection hay steadily gained size throughout and currently stands at; 1 pac, 2 fbts, 1 ACF, 1 eastern American toad, 1ball python, a dubia colony, small breeding group of hissers, 4 Asian Forrest scorpions, and some Arizona bark scorps will be here in the near future =) oh and a cat
Its all Morbo's fault

Lynn, this is a wonderful topic.
Well, it all began with the beautiful Stickers. So vibrantly colored with those sweet eyes just looking out all innocent
. I've always loved red-eyed tree frogs, though I never realized you could have them as pets. I left that day from the local pet store and headed home to do some research. I found the frog forum in my search. That weekend I brought her home
.
Since then, I learned I knew near nothing about them and the crew here taught me bundles. I've read more articles, books, and health care information than you'd care to know, lol!And since, I have adopted and rescued 6 more red eyes.
Stickers passed a few weeks ago. She lived a comfortable life with her rescue buddies in a lovely rainforest home we created for them. She will always be the first and we loved her dearly. She has paved the way for my research, brought me here to this wonderful forum, brought me great friends here, and has allowed me to help so many other frogs and their caregivers through teaching and assisting. She has changed our lives. My little princess

I remember I always used to catch American Toads as a kid, never kept them though. Now, I am I proud keeper of one giant American Toad, which I do get to keep! I think what compelled me most to get one was the fact that most people think they are ugly, I think though, that they are the cutest creatures on earth! They are my number one favorite animal!![]()
"Look on the wall behind you. Look at that little girl's face. I know you've seen it. But you know what she's never going to be able to see? She's never going to be able to see the simple wonder of a leaf in her hand. Because there's not going to be any trees. Now you think about that."

Hum... can't recall well what exactly did it. In 2012 a local pet shop had 3 ABF babies and they looked cute. Researching web came across forum, became a member and got me my first captive frog (Stilgar) after reading care article. Sadly suffered a stroke and had to find a home for him and my 1st Pacman.
When a child was not allowed pets; but had a toad (probably a Cane) as a free ranging "pet" and several coqui's in yard (among orchids and bromeliads) I called mine
.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
We were going to get my then 5 year old a tadpole so she could learn how they morphed. But no one had a tadpole that would be ok in a small tank that we could release. SO we went to the pet store, she fell in love with an adult whites tree frog and I asked the pet store what we needed. A few days later he did not look good so my research started. We ended up with 3. We ended up with 3 tadpoles also, but that ended up being sad, still not sure what I did wrong. We started out with a 12x12x18 and they have been in a 60 but that tank broke in a move. They moved into a 30 and now they are getting ready to go into a 55. Hopefully one day they will have a huge tank.
Mine has always been red eyed tree frogsIve always loved every kind of frog(I even collect everything frogs! Stuffed animals, pictured, decorations haha) but red eyes have always had a extra special place in my heart
