    Default Quat Plus disinfectant

I bought this stuff ages ago from a company called Big Apple Herps. Reptile keepers report good results, but it is safe for amphibians if the cage is throughly rinsed with hot water afterwards?

Yikes ! This is pretty strong stuff !
Sorry, I have never used this. ( Certainly doesn't mean it's bad )
Was it suggested .......... it be used on the interior of an enclosure ?

I've always cleaned a new , reused, or previously used quarantine/hospital tank with a very diluted bleach/water solution.
ie a cap of bleach to 5 gallons of water.
And rinse .......for what seems like forever ............ in tap water w/ de-chlorinator added.

Don't know if this was the answer you really wanted ?

    Default Quat Plus disinfectant

Regardless of whether it is safe or not, if you bought it 'ages' ago, i would not use it. I would toss it in the garbage. Any h2o that was used as a filler in it probably evaporated (even if it was sealed) and now it is most likely concentrated. Better to be safe than sorry.

I don't like the idea of using bleach. Isn't there anything I can just get from a store that can be safe if rinsed thoroughly afterwards? I'm planning on setting up a hospital tank want to be able to be able to reuse the same one after each daily disinfecting. Otherwise I'll just get TWO tanks (Sterlite boxes) and swap back and forth on them (disinfect one while Frog sits in the other).

I have used bleach on every hospital/quarantine tank I have ever set -up. ( 10 gallons)
That would be about 100 times !
And use it between each new frog quarantine. Use the bath tub.

No problems - I use de-chlorinator to rinse.

you could always use white distilled vinegar and/or lemon juice. the acid is normally enough to kill most nasties, but in no way will disinfect. like Lynn, i use bleach. on nasty rescued tanks, i use CLR, then bleach and then rinse numerous times adding Seachem Prime to the water to neutralize the chlorine in the bleach.
