Question wild moss in the terrarium

Im just wondering if anyone collects moss to use or the
terrarium and i was wondering if this would be a safe idea
    instead of buying moss

I use wild moss at times. I submerge it in rain water for a few days to drown out any bugs. I use it in my w/c frog & toad tanks.

I collected some really nice pillow moss earlier this year for my tree frog tank. The snow had almost completely melted and I spied this nice lush green patch of moss. It was so early in the year that no grass or weeds had grown up through it. There were no visible bugs in it either. Since it was thick cushy pillow moss, I only took an inch of the top layer. So I didn't get any dirt in it. I did wash it several times before actually putting it in the tank just in case though.
