    HI,

All frogs need a varied Diet and supplements.
feeding just one item like wax worms will lead to a early death of your baby.
Wax worms are really fatty. They are good as a treat item giving them once a week or so.
Yes Crickets are stinky and the adults do chirp.
But there are other live feeders that are easier to culture and less of a nuisance. The first is dubia roaches, it's very easy to set up a colony with just a plastic bin.
There are other types of roaches like red runners.
And I'm sure there are others that I'm not aware of that other more experienced keepers than I Will know of.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Gigi,
    Welcome to Frog Foum.
Louis has given you great information.

Too many wax and meal worms could increase the instance of bowel obstructions and prolapse as well. Not pretty.
They would however, love the wax worm moths !!!!!! the moths could be fed more frequently but the crickets and/or roaches should be the staple in their diet.

If you purchase small and/or medium crickets it would be months before you heard a peep.
I swap out the soiled cricket bins to clean ones......... once a week.
    My bin never smells.
    It's simple......smelly = dirty.

The previous posters have given good advice a varied diet is very important to provide the widest range of nutrition for your frog. In the wild your frog would not just be eating mostly crickets or mostly wax worms, they would get a varied diet.

crickets when maintained correctly can be relatively stink free and only the adults chirp in their last few weeks of life so that they may breed and reproduce before dying. At Ready Reptile Feeders we raise crickets so I have tens of thousands of them at a time. Seeing that my most popular sizes are below adult size, I rarely have crickets chirping but in a few bins I allow to become adults for reproduction purposes.

With a Dubia Roach Starter Colony Kit you simply put them in a bin and supply them with food once a week or so. There is less smell than crickets. Dubia roaches are extremely easy to set up colony wise and require less maintenance than crickets.

Keep the fatty worms for the rare treat and feed a varied diet of high calcium roaches like dubia or hissers along with crickets isopods and more nutritious worms to replicate natural diet.

Be sure feeder roaches are legal in your area though. There are also non-climbing species of feeder roaches available so you don't have to worry about them escaping
