I was reading one of the newer posts here, and it spiraled into a debate on how much an adult Pyxie can/must eat. My girl's staple (and definitely favored) food is nightcrawlers, and I feed her 4 (maybe 5, these worms are pretty big and meaty after all) of them every 2 to 3 days. Other days I'll feed Dubias (secondary staple). She doesn't seem to like these as much, but can eat around a dozen of them per feeding (I feed 1-1.5" juveniles). One time she even took 20 of them.
Usually I'll give her 10-12 roaches and round them off with a couple of nightcrawlers. Seems to aid digestion.
I've read Pyxies my girl's size can eat much more than aforementioned amounts, and yet as you can see, mine's anything but underweight. . .
Just how much food do these frogs need to survive anyway?
I remember a time when I was new to frogs, and had reservations about starting with a Pyxie because of their legendary appetites, especially if it turned out to be a male. And yet I'd still like to get another Pyxie someday, and I do love the impressive sizes the males grow to.
Wow that picture is awesome!! Either she is really puffed up or overweight, you are doing just fine as far as your feeding regiment. (you may need to put her on a slight diet)
Yet again, your girl has some GREAT colors! very cool!
