I had some frogspawn that I fished out our pond. I now have several tiny froglets (back and front legs, short stubby tail - less than 2cm big).
I have them in a guinea pig cage ( http://sarniaguineapigrescue.weebly.com/… - the green ramp to the shelf is sitting on 2 bricks to make it less steep and I've put cardboard across the edges to stop them escaping. The top is uncovered (just the bars over it)
And I have just seen a fully grown massive frog in there. The other froglets are still tiny and there weren't any that looked any bigger. Is it possible that this frog has just had a huge growth spurt and I've missed it? Or has it got it through the bars in the top? The cage is right next to our pond but would a fully grown frog really jump on top of a cage and squeeze through the bars?
I am really doubting it's one of mine due to the huge size in comparison to the other froglets (and me still having taddies with just back legs!). It's been hot (UK) like 30 each day for the past 3-4 days and I've been feeding bloodworms and daphnia. Can I really have a fully grown frog that I have not seen at all and totally missed it's growth? I check them daily and none have changed in the last week (more froglets but no bigger). They can only get out onto the bricks either under the shelf (but only just) or onto the shelf (covered in bark to hide under)..so I really don't see how I could have missed it?!
*this is the first successful year I;ve got anything past tadpole stage so I'm really clueless!*
