Ok, so I just got home form work and started hearing a deep base noise and went into my frog room. Sure enough my male dwarf is attempting to defile my female giant.
They are both over 2 years old and this is the very first time I've hear any croaking. He was latched on to her like vice grips. I eventually broke it up after fear of him drowning her as she was held under water for a while.
I'm compressing the video right now in premeir then will link it here when uploaded to youtube.
I don't want frog babies, but I don't want to stop nature. I thought this was a fairly rare occurrence?
EDIT 2:
Ok mating video is up!

It says it is unavailable.
Yeah, sorry, apparently YouTube decided to queue it's processing. It's in 1080p as well so maybe it's taking longer
I guess in the meantime you can watch the boys eating
Video is finally available.
Can they intermix like the pacmans? If they can, you might end up with extra medium pyxi frogs.
To be completely honest I don't know, I didn't think they could. I did see a video of a a pyxie mounting a pacman once. So maybe they just try at a certain age.
No I'm talkin about dwarf and giant. Not pyxie and pacman.
I know you meant between giant/dwarf. I'm saying I don't know if they can. He might just be trying no matter what since I've seen them do the same with pacmans when there is no way it would work but they do it anyways.
Ah my bad. But you never know. There are fantasy pacman frogs out there ( cranwelli x cornuta) just wanted to know is it was the same for african bull frogs.
There have been rumors about a mixing of the species, but I know not of any proof.
Grif, do you think I should let him make the attempt? I mean I don't have the free time to care for thousands of tadpoles. I don't want to pick and choose unless it's viable to just take a few eggs. Cab this cause stress between the two and is there a chance of drowning?
I have a spare tank and heater if they need just the two of them. I'm kind of afraid to leave them unsupervised. I think I will separate the two in a breeding tank at lunch time from work.
Also he has been quite since I stopped the mating do they give up?
Yeah! Extra-Medium african bull frogs. Or is that bad? (like dart frog mixing?).
What size tank is that you have them all in
You can house these together? No fighting ever?
