He looks like he's about to shed in that last photo. Have you tried him with superworms? Superworms are my male's absolute favourite food.

How can you tell when they are about to shed? The last photo was taken a couple of days ago, and so far he hasn't done anything but bury himself a bit deeper. I heard that superwoms can bite and hurt frogs, so I have stayed away from them for the last few months. Switched over entirely to mealworms. Kadesh and Obi love them. However, Gherkin was getting fed every single day for the last month, so maybe he knew something bigger was coming! He's a pretty smart frog.

When they get that sort of glazed/plastic-like appearance, it usually means they are about the shed. He probably did it already.

As for superworms, I only ever bother messing with the jaws for small frogs. My 3 African Bullfrogs get them "as-is". In the wild, these guys can eat much nastier things than a superworm.

Okay, maybe I will pick up a small container of superworms. Just for a treat here and there for them. Kadesh will be in heaven if I brought those guys back. Spoiled, I tell you! Gherkin doesn't have the shine anymore, so he might have already done his thing. I will have to remember that and make sure the humidity is up in all the tanks to help them out. Thanks for the tip John!!

He looks like a beast! Very nice.

I'd be surprised if your frog didn't like superworms.
I have a hard time getting mine to eat anything BUT superworms. lol
