Toad keeps waking me up

My toad is driving me insane. She keeps on making noises when Im trying to sleep. First she tries to escape from her tank making me scared. Then she tried to burrow into some wood in her tank making a crunching noise. I tried to get her back into her burrow but she just wants to go. Right now shes trying to burrow into a plastic plant. What should I do? It happens all tge time.

Toads tend to be nocturnal, so that's just her active time. Have you had her a long time? If not, she might just be getting acclimated to her new home.

If it stays a big problem, you might want to move her cage from where you sleep, if possible.

Hi Logan! Does toad has enough substrate to borrow? If not, it could drive it's instincts to do what you are describing .

You want to have at least 1.5 inch covering the toad once they have burrowed down deep. I've got at least a 5 inch base now, but I'm going to add a few more inches. They LOVE to have multiple tunnels in their viv.

I've had my toad for a year now and she has about 4 inches to burrow.

Not sure what is going on beside natural behavior then. It also may be that with her maturing, captivity does not agree with her. I've had some frogs and toad that didn't do well in tanks. They were always looking for a way out so I just released them back were they came from.

I don't want to let Lola go. It's not like she's ramming the sides of her tank to get out, I think it may be her just seeing her reflection.

I'm not saying to free her, just sounds like she's not content in her viv. I don't remember the size you have her in, but she and all toads should have enough room to get a good hop in. In the wild they do cover a lot of ground at night time when hunting. I've got a 40 gallon breeder tank for 4 toads and they utilize all the ground space plus climb on the cork bark, rocks and branches that are in there. But then I'm no toad psychologist, this is just my opinion.

Does she have a water bowl? I know that toads can be kept with just a daily misting, but I had a toad for a month or so, that was only happy when he had a pool of water...

My Toads and Frogs make noise all night long and I love it ! I think its bery peaceful to listen too and a talking frog is a happy frog, or so what I have always read.
