I've had my WTF Dubstep for several months now. Recently I noticed he seems to be turning from a greenish color to a brown. I checked his belly, and there's no redness or irritation there or his legs. He's also eating and pooping normally. No odd behavior; still active, and not soaking more than normal.
I did add a new piece of decor to his cage a week or so ago; a large red/brown fake tree. With my pac, colors dulling out can be in response to being on a darker substrate, so I was wondering if that could be the cause?
Mainly I just wanted to see if the color change by itself was anything to worry about, and what typically causes it?
as far as i know green whites turning brown during a day can be due to luck of UVB, low temps and stress, or to blend in, but i know it only in theory, never kept these guys.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Well, low temps definitely aren't the problem. But he may be trying to blend in with his new decor. It takes up a big chunk of cagespace.
UVB could be an issue... His cage doesn't get direct sun, but it's not shaded or out of the sun either. I can always pick up another bulb if that's the issue.
