So, I'm of course thinking about getting another baby frog, this time maybe smaller, and it had me thinking about how I would go about heating a plastic critter keeper.
I prefer lights to UTHs, but wouldn't a light directly on the keeper melt the plastic? How do you go about heating a critter keeper with a light, or is a UTH necessary?
Thanks!
You could use a reptile bulb (red, blue, or black as required) in a desk lamp (do not exceed lamp wattage) and adjust the distance to CK as required to control the temps. Also, the smalles ZooMed mat can be affixed to plastic keepers Amazon.com: Zoo Med ReptiTherm® Under Tank Heater, Mini: Pet Supplies . Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
That's a good idea with the lamp! I never would have thought of that, thanks!
