    Default Breeding livefood.

I already have a good Dubia colony but to satisfy the hunger of an African bullfrog and even worse a cane toad they just arnt enough.

I don't like the idea of crickets because of the noise but if there are no other options which breeds faster black, brown or banded? I was thinking about breeding Turkistan roaches because they don't require much space and are apparently the fastest breeding roach in the world.

I would definitely go with the turks than crickets any day, just based on the smell alone.

Have you bred them before SCF?

I have not bred crickets, I buy them on occasion. Crickets are a very popular feeder, I just can't bring myself to deal with the smell associated with them. I know there are some members here that do breed them though, hopefully they stop by this thread and give some additional input.

I've kept blatta lateralis and crickets. The smell from crickets is 10000000X times nastier then red runners. Though red runners do stink a bit more then other species, its still something I am able to handle. Only problem I have on the B.lateralis is that they tend to spend a lot of they're time on the ground, where as crickets like to climb and even bask. So if your going to use them for an arboreal species that never comes to the ground, crickets may be better. Unless you can tong feed. But for the species you mentioned I don't see any reason why B.lateralis would be a problem

Sorry I should have been more clear with my question, I meant to say have you bred the Turk roaches before?

Nah they're for the complete opposite... a cane toad. Need a fast breeding species because she eats more than my Bullfrog, pacman frog, chameleon, dragon, tarantulas and axolotls combined not to mention the dogs, lol. She seriously never gets full and by the end of feeding she will be soooooo fat, then she will eat even more the next day because she is still growing.

In that case.... These roaches will be great! I heard that lobsters breed faster then red runners but I've never kept them.

I'll consider giving them a try as well. None of these species can breed in my house if they escape right?

I'm going to try Lobsters and Red Runners(both in separate tubs though).

I am going to keep all the colonies of roaches(dubia, turk and lobster) in the smallest room in my house. Could both these species breed between a room temp of 25-30 degrees without a heat mat. My Dubias have a heat mat and since the room they're in is so small it reaches around 27 but minimum of 25.

Edit:How many babies can a Madagascar hissed give birth to in a year?
