I've kept blatta lateralis and crickets. The smell from crickets is 10000000X times nastier then red runners. Though red runners do stink a bit more then other species, its still something I am able to handle. Only problem I have on the B.lateralis is that they tend to spend a lot of they're time on the ground, where as crickets like to climb and even bask. So if your going to use them for an arboreal species that never comes to the ground, crickets may be better. Unless you can tong feed. But for the species you mentioned I don't see any reason why B.lateralis would be a problem
