Is my PacMan too fat??

I got Clyde 3 months ago when he was about 2 weeks old. Some days he eats, some days he doesn't. On average he eats about 4 or 5 times a week. When he eats its a small earthworm dusted with vitamin powder mix. I don't know if he's pooping - I don't know what their poop looks like. :/ He just seems a little too fat. Thoughts?

There's no way a pacman can get fat eating what you described, but there is almost definitely something off. He looks bloated, which can be a sign of either impaction or toxing-out which is most often caused by using improperly treated water. All water for expanding substrate, misting, and soaking needs to be treated with a water conditioner such as Prime (they're in the fish aisle at most pet stores).

Also, you need to remove that substrate immediately. When pacs eat, they tend to grab whatever is in front of them. With substrate that has large chunks like that they WILL eventually eat some. This is a big cause of impaction which can be fatal. The only really good substrate for pacs is coco-fiber. A common brand is Eco-earth.

Other members use pedialyte or reptiboost for soaking, so they can tell you the proper dilutions for those, but I use 4-6 drops of honey in luke-warm water (treated!). Make sure the water doesn't go above the frog's chin.

I would do just the homey soak.
The pedialyte is really for supplying electrolytes and a little bit of carbs to a really sick frog.

This is how I do a soak. I have a 9in by 6in plastic bin that is about 5 inches deep. I got it at target.
I use treated water and heat it up in a microwave ( with out the frog ) until it gets to 80F. If it gets hotter just add some more
treated water that is cold to bring it down.
Again keep the water shallow just below the frogs chin as DVirginiana mentioned above.
you can add one drop of honey per 8 oz of water. you can use a known container like a drinking water bottle to measure
how much water you have.

wrap a towel around the plastic tub if it is clear and cover it with the towel also to help make the frog less stressed.
Let it soak for at least 30 min. During the winter be carful that the water doesn't get too cold below 70F.

check on it every 10 min or so and hopefully it will leave a present in the water for you.

then have a smaller container with the same temp water except with out the honey
to rince off the honey and any poo .
let it sit there for 5 min and return to its home.

Need to switch that substrate to eco earth plz. If your frog eats like mine then he is garanteed to have ate some of the subsrate that you are providing.

yours is not fat, but he is bloated as DV mentioned, please follow the directions Louis and DV gave you such as:
- pls answer "trouble" questions
- change the substrate asap
- water with honey soaks

it is normal for them to puff themselves up when being handled. impaction is always possible and it is always better to be safe then sorry and change the substrate and give a nice warm soak. If he appears to look like that in a relaxed state then that is a sure sign of bloating.

Hello and welcome to FF ! How big was Clyde (snout to vent length - SVL) when you got it and how big is frog now? 4-5 small earthworms weekly sound like too little to me.

Frog poop loks like a log, big by frog size standard. If in water dish you will know, it stinks bad. Sometimes they poop in their hole and bury it with substrate. Time to search with tweezers is when they are out or in soaking bath. Look for harder pieces that are darker than shredded coco. Spot cleaning like this will help keep substrate cleaner until monthly changes.

A fat frog is fat all over and when touched feels hard like your skin. A bloated frog will feel squishy when touched and edema fluid will actually displace as you touch. If bloated it's a serious condition, usually caused by chronic low temperatures. A puffed frog will fill itself with air when stressed or feels threatened to look bigger and meaner.
