Yes it has a lid, its a large white plastic container.

I only left them in it for just under 10 minutes or so. My husband kept saying that it's cruel, making me feel really bad.

If you tell me it doesn't stress them then I'll do it every other day, & ignore him lol.

I'd love to to feed them that way 'cos then I could get them some small crickets for variety. At the mo the crickets just drown or hide.
