    Default Feeding in Seperate Container

I tried feeding my 3 FBTs in another container. I put hoppers and waxworms in with them. Only one of the frogs ate a worm which was great, but they all just tried to climb out all the time.

Should I carry on doing this or is it stressful for them?

You can keep trying. Do you have a lid for the container? And how long did you leave the toads in the container?

Yes it has a lid, its a large white plastic container.

I only left them in it for just under 10 minutes or so. My husband kept saying that it's cruel, making me feel really bad.

If you tell me it doesn't stress them then I'll do it every other day, & ignore him lol.

I'd love to to feed them that way 'cos then I could get them some small crickets for variety. At the mo the crickets just drown or hide.

I'd give them at least fifteen minutes and leave them alone when doing it. Maybe set them somewhere with no traffic or any noise at all. See if that helps with getting them to feed. Most FBT's will eat with an audience, but just in case they are little stressed from the new environment it might be a good idea.

Thx I'll give that a go tomorrow - mind you they're very hard to catch as they hide under a rock in the tank & are difficult to see. What a pain !

I also had this problem when I first bought one of my FBT's, but after a while she became much less shy and will even eat crickets out of my fingers now. Yours probably just need time to adjust, and I agree with JeffX's suggestion of leaving them in a quiet place for around 15 minutes to get them to feed.

I feed my White's and fire-bellies in Rubbermaid boxes. They now actually look forward to it now. I can put my hand out and the fire-bellies will climb into to it. The White's see my hand and try to eat it! So don't worry about stressing them out. Eventually they will figure out the game and look forward to it.

Thats so reassuring to know - I'll definately keep trying that option, & try different feeder insects.

My fire-bellies have been fed crickets (of course), mealworms, and bean weevils. They ate them all with no problem. I am going to try phoenix worms soon.
