Mine have gone under for days, weeks and during the winter months. Sink a feeder dish into the substrate so you can put fresh bugs out each night. This way you'll see if she's eating at night when you aren't around and also it keeps the "free runners" to a minimum. Small shallow glass dishes are easy to find at a dollar store if you don't have anything already.
