Default Hello! I'm new, never owned a Tree Frog before.

    Hi everyone!

I have have had African Clawed Frogs before about 17 years ago. The only thing I remember about them was they ate all my fish in my tank. My own fault for not researching about them enough. But now I am going to get some Red Eyed Tree Frogs. I am really excited! I was thinking about getting 3 in one tank. The tank is 33 gallons. The person I am getting them from said that was an ok size. Anyway, I hope to learn more on this site. I am not getting the frogs for a few weeks yet.

Hope to hear from you all soon!

    Lori

    Hi Lori,

Welcome to the forum. Before you dive in with the Red Eyes, keep in mind that most people who keep them as "pets" are somewhat let down by just how inactive they are during the day (they sleep all the time) and because they don't tame very much, unlike, for example, White's Tree Frogs.

    Best wishes,

That's ok. I spend most of my time during the day away from the room they are going to be in. At night I have a Moonlight blue bulb that lights it up just enough to see inside. I have the lights on timers and the day time lights go off about 7pm (when my parrot goes to sleep) and I can sit back and watch them at any time for a few hours before I go to sleep.. So I hope that light won't bother them. I am also planning to get a chameleon and they don't want to be held much either. I'm fine with that. But thanks for reminding me.

Congrats on your upcoming frogs and kudos for doing research before your purchase. It's difficult learning something after the fact and having to redo things two or three times to get it right. You should have a much easier time of it <g> Will you order locally or use one of the online pet breeders?

I looked into getting the tree frogs locally, but they said they won't have any for a while. So I was thinking of waiting a couple weeks and buying them online. I was a little disappointed today to find a online seller with Baby RETF's for $16.99 but then I went to bbb.org they had an F rating and 41 unanswered complaints for dead animals that they didn't respond to refund requests. I would like any help from anyone that can direct me to a GOOD place online that ships Chameleons and RETF's.

The other thing I am wondering is you its ok to get a 1" baby frog online or should I get an adult?
