I wake up every morning at 4am. First thing I do is turn on my fogger on low to get the humidity back up in Mojo's cage ( my hygrotherm should be here any day now). Then I hop in the shower. Sure enough when I get out, Mojo is uncovered and begging for worms. So I go and make his breakfast. Todays menu was two full sized nightcrawlers soaked in treated water and seasoned with calcium D3 with a hint of eco earth straight off the tongs. This has been our morning routine for about a week now. If Mojo isn't hungry he will stay covered up snug in his hole. I hear him every night he gives about four or five quick croaks usually starts around 1am. That's why I'm thinking Mojo is a male. Cant tell if he is getting naptual pads yet. Mojo is doing well, he got his first honey bath last night and wasn't happy at all about it, but it did the trick and made room for the nightcrawlers this morning. Ill post pics when I get home, I can't post them from my phone. Just thought I would give a little update on Mojo. Reading these forums is leading to a healthy and happy frog!
- Here are the Mojo Pics I promised! He was really mad at his soak. That was his first one. I also included a pic of his enclosure, and I put a quarter next to him to give you guys some ideas on his size.
so pretty! thank you for sharing!
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
I soak pep once a week if I don't find any presents
I use a pretty large container about 4 times as large as the one you use.
And I just use treated water no honey. Heated to 80F
I wrap a green towel around it and cover it.
This keeps the frog a bit more calm.
And keeps the heat up longer.
I let Pep soak for up to 20 min and that does the trick.
And today I gave pep its first pinky mouse and oh boy Pep didn't mess around.
I did notice that your eco earth looks dry.
I keep mine moist to the point that it will clump but not soaked and my humidity is rock steady at 80%
and my fogger hardly ever turns on with the hygorthem.
and I am glad to see that you have the fogger set up perfectly.
Yeah the other day I changed his bedding because it was soaked. Now i have it where it clumps on your hand but doesn't drip. I have noticed that the top layer has been drying out. But no worries, my wife and I keep a close eye on it and spray it down when we see it starting to dry out. I was thinking of getting a bigger soak tub for Mojo. I usually only see the top of his head so I totally misjudged his size lol. Ill see what all I have around the house and clean it appropriatly for his next soak. One question though... I keep Mojo next to a window but out of direct sun light. Is this sufficient for his day/night cycles? I keep his 50w red bulb on all day and night.
The only time I've seen Mojo eat during the day time was when I fed him a mouse. I can't wait to feed him his next one. But that's not till the last week of July.
Target sells plastic containers pretty cheaply.
Thats where I got the containers for my Dubia roach colony and other projects.
Probably gonna get one of those for soaks.
Fed Mojo his vitamin crickets a little bit ago. He was literally jumping all over his enclosure hunting them down. It was the most ive ever seen him move. Then he decided to take a quick bath. Went out and got another light for the day time. I put it on a dimmer, which is real cool because I can fine tune what temp I want in the enclosure. Also got a new plant for him so he can get some shade. Ill post some more pics tomorrow of his set up now.
Hygrotherm came in today. Everything is set to perfect mode. Mojo's enclosure is now complete.
Oh and here are a couple pics of Mojo chasing crickets down last night.
Just remember not to let the sensor get too close to water or mist it or get it wet.
It will cause an error and it wont work until it dries out completely.
you can get velcro and use that to place the sensor and it can be removed for cleaning the tank.
I would place the sensor a bit higher not much only about an inch.
but in the center of the tank is good.
Don't forget to set the day and night temp offset.
and the same velcro can be used to mount the display of the Hygrotherm.
Trackin on getting the sensor wet. Ill get some velcro tomorrow and raise it a bit. I have the digital display suction cupped to my out side window. I figured that will turn on night mode for the temp drop. Mojo just poked his head out a little early tonight. I just fed him 1 full sized nightcrawler and 2 halves from earlier this week. I didn't dust this time though. I dust on mondays and wednesday, and vitamin on fridays with crickets. I'm going to keep feeding him every time he is hungry. Thanks fir all the help!
