It varies. Dime to nickle size is the average.

Lol! Sorry we just use a coin as a reference. I'd say 1.75 cm to 2 cm.

    Hi,

    background of my question:
A friend of mine has bred albino C. cranwelli this year. There was only one specimen with only 2 cm, about 10 with 2,5 and the rest with minimum 3 to 3,5 cm bodylength, the biggest ones even with 4 cm when they left the water.

The year before another guy I know bred nominate C. cranwelli and had similar sizes.

On the other hand on reptile faires in Europe, they offer imported (usually from the US) C. cranwelli starting from 2,5 to 3 cm. With that size, they have to be pretty young. And it made me curious, with which size they have started their live when they are offered as froglets with 2,5 to 3 cm bodylengths on faires.

    kind regards,
    Martin

Sizes vary between spawning when it comes to metamorphosis. Genetics, food source, water quality, and water temperature affect their growth. I have heard of some emerging at nearly 2 inches so there is an average size they emerge at and some above average.

Are you asking when they are able to be sold after becoming froglets? Or when to offer food?

I just was curious, why the imported ones are often so much smaller than these offsprings and was wondering, at which size they left the water and have they already eaten at all. I think it is not the best start into live to be shipped that long short after metamorphosis, isn't it!?
And we also where wondering, what's sent over the pond, the "normal quality" or maybe a "lower quality" which can't be sold in the US. Like it is e.g. with ball pythons: the new morphs are usually sold within the US, morphs which can't be sold there anymore, are send over the pond because there is still a market for them.

Maybe the main reason is: These ones are bred by private people who took a lot of time and care to raise them and the ones in the pet trade are normally bred by professional breeders who are interested to produce masses at low(est) costs.

Just some thoughts and no offense in any way intended!
