I just bought a tub of Exo Terra Calcium+D3 powder and a tub of Exo Terra Multivitamin powder for my baby African Bullfrog. Until now I used just a Calcium and vitamin combo and hadn't realized that it didn't contain D3 so had to change what supplements I used. I plan to lightly dust all his food with the Calcium+D3 every other feeding and all his food with Multivitamin once a week. Does this sound ok?
Another thing is that on the Multivitamin tub it says 'For Reptiles and Amphibians' but on the Calcium+D3 tub it just says 'For Reptiles' and doesn't mention Amphibians. Will it be ok? I think it's just Calcium powder with the D3 vitamin in it and nothing else so I presume it will be suitable.
Also another thing for anyone good at sexing young frogs. I know have asked this a million times and everyone says it is but is this definitely a male? I just really want a male. Which is ironic because with my other frogs I always hoped they would be female.![]()
looks female to me.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Aww really? Well your the first to say that so I still have high hopes that its male. What about the dusting of the food and all that stuff?
i think i replied to that in your other thread, these are good.

Oh yeah sorry.![]()
I think its a female to Jack.
The supplements are fine and your dosing is ok.
Oh well I don't mind that much really, as long as it gets BIG and I'm glad I'm using the right supplements. Strange though because last week SCF and Carlos said it was male.
Carlos just said "it's early, but he would guess a male." This may be on me for attempting to sex at such an early age. A lot of things change with this particular species in even a week. There's a couple of indicators that made me guess at a male so early, if you want I can edit your photos and show you what I was looking at. There is tons of threads here where people get pleasantly surprised with a male when it looked 100% female. I also like your thought process on that you will take care of it and love it regardless. Very admirable.
How long or old does it have to be to croak or develop nuptial pads because I know they're ways to tell for sure.
Size determines when the frog will Call(Croak). 4" to 4.5" is an average size for them to start
The Males only develope nuptial pads during breeding season. Their Odontoids(tooth like projections on the center of the lower jaw) grow longer as well during this time to fight rival males for breeding rights and territory.
sorry to say but im going to agree with the rest of them and say its a 99.99% femalelooks exactly like my female...they get really fat and cute looking so its still cool to have one...i enjoy my female as much as my male pixie as well
u can just try again...i didnt get my male till the 3rd try lol
oh and to add on...most ppl on here will probably disagree and dislike this but i dont dust cal+d3 for my pixies...i just make sure they eat tons and the food source is gut loaded well....my pixies have been doing fine...i believe there is only one other forum person on here that doesnt either
I don't really mind the outcome as long as it is healthy. The only reason I really want a male is just because they grow bigger but other than that I suppose females are better because they eat less, dont croak at night and wake you up and don't need a huge tank. Thanks anyway.![]()

I haven't taken any pictures recently of my pets, but I do have this old one of a female I have. My preference is shifting towards the females lately due to their feisty nature.
