Hi everyone!
My name is James and I'm getting ready to get my first frogs!! (green tree frogs)
I have an exo terra 45x45x60 tank my amazing fiance got me, and im about to get a few extra plants and accessories.
I was wondering if I get a mister, do I actually need a fogger as well?
I would like to add a fogger for aesthetic reasons but to start with I might just keep it fairly simple.
I was looking at the Exo Terra monsoon set up... Would a mister on its own be good enough to keep my new friends happy?
any help or suggestions would be HUGELY appreciated!
Thanks guys!!!![]()
PS: I absolutely LOVE this site!!!!!
Hello and welcome James.
Well, it depends on which type of frog(s) you would like. Their homes can be completely different from one species to the next. Each species have their own requirements, which need to be followed to keep them happy and healthy.
Here's a great place to start...

Like Heather said it depends on species requirements. It also depends on how the tank is set up. My big setup has a running water feature with an aquarium heater that keeps humidity in the green. I still mist every night to simulate the post rain wetness of a rainforest.
First step, decide on a frog. Second step, setup your tank and play with it for a week or two working any kinks out. Best to learn about tank care before you have frogs that may get stressed by poor conditions while you're learning.
Once you know what it takes to maintain the tank, then you can get frogs.
A note on automation of frog care that I've personally noticed. Automatic systems make it easy if you need to ask someone else to care for your frogs for a weekend or week while you're gone. But too much automation will detract the amount of time you pay attention to the tank environment and can easily cause you to miss important clues to cleaning or frog health.
I know this because I automated my systems noticed my girlfriend and I started to just feed the frogs and nothing more for a week. Put a big stop to that as soon as I realized it.
I'm getting green tree frogs, I have my tank all set up (came as a kit - exo terra)
I just want to add some more plants and i'll be applying for my reptile license within the next month
I think I might just go with the mister for now... I think that will be enough.
in a few months i might get a fogger, just depends on a few things (kitchen renovations haha)
but with the Green tree frogs or white tree frogs do I actually NEED a fogger?
thanks guys!
