    Default New Toad!!!!

So here is my new toad. It is a female American Toad. She is about 2-2.5 inches big. Her name is Bailey. She is sharing an enclosure with Zalt. She is lighter than Zalt, and has rod dots all over her.

You too? I got a new one today as well. Did you find her outside? It might be a good idea to keep them separated til you're sure Bailey is healthy. My new girl was someone's pet and she seems totally healthy, so I want to put them together so badly (they met, only briefly), but I'm waiting just to be sure. How big is Zalt?

Nice looking toad you got there. You'll need a bigger soaking dish for them. They should be able to get at least half their back submerged in the water.

Zalt is about 1-1 1/4 inches big, and i know that i need a new water dish. And i found her outside. I am have trouble find one big enough without being too big for the enclosure.

Walmart has metal cat food bowls that are $1-$2. Easy to clean and perfect sizes for 1 or 2 toads. Name: DSC00232.jpg

Size: 124.1 KB Both of these gals are about 3in long to give you an idea of the size. Metal or ceramic cat/dog dishes are best and cheaper than ones meant for reptiles/frogs. If one of these doesn't fit well in tank, you might need a bigger set-up. Clear plastic totes make pretty decent homes. You can go large for not a lot of money.
That's kind of a big size difference. I've read the larger toad could hog all the food. I guess just watch to make sure Zalt gets her fill.

Thanks ill have to pick one up. I am using an a plastic container that's a bit bigger than a plastic butter container. And i put the food right in front of them and make sure they are both getting the same amount and Bailey is not eating all the food.(I give Bailey a bit more cause she's bigger) And i have the room for a big container, but the way i have things setup i would have to change it around and i don't want to. They are in a 20 gallon tank.

I think I saw your set up pics and it's looks pretty cool. 20gal is plenty of room. But I know that when burrows have been made, I hate to rearrange things in there. Once they've established their hiding places, it'd be annoying for them if we came around and changed it up... Has to happen sometimes, but best kept to a minimum.

I'd go ahead and give Zalt as much as she'll eat. She'll shoot up like a weed and Banjo was such a little piggy when she was that size. Plus they need that calcium & vitamins when they're growing. Ridiculously cute and it's fun to compare the old and new pics. More than doubled in size in 6mnths.
