i recieved 2 dendrobates ventrimaculatus this morning. i believe there from sean stewarts line. one seems to be fairly larger then the other so i guess i could potentially have a male female pair. its too tough too tell at this point with them still being juveniles. right now there in a medium sized plastic bin for quarantine. they are very bold and lively which is a good sign.
i also changed my tank around. my vents are pretty small and i was really worried about them drowning so i eliminated the water feature. it was a horrible pain keeping the water clean anyway.
i did have a question. this tank is somewhere around 45-50 gallon. will my thumbnails have trouble feeding in such a large area? should i get them used to the regularity of feeding at the same spot everyday so they know where and when to come? or should i load the tank with springtails isopods and fruitflies so they meet food as there coming and going?
I don't keep darts yet; but would set up the springtails to breed off in the enclosure while frogs are in quarantine and later feed fruit flies in same spot once frogs are in. Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Congrats Adam,
Looks great ! Enjoy them.
Yeah- water areas are extra work, for sure.
Definitely , seed the the enclosure with springs and isopods as soon as you can; even if you get a small order to gets things going.
They are both easy to culture.

Yes, you could put the dusted FF in the same spot everyday; can't hurt.
You don't want to throw so many in that they crawl on the forgs
If the frogs are still small you will want turkish gliders or Melanogaster
$$$ but worth it ! All you need is one & supplies !
