Anyone able to sex this little guy yet or still too young? One of the pics was taken two weeks ago. Amazing how much it has grown.
At the rate it's growing I hope it won't be too long before we can tell. Thanks anyway.
Picture #2/#3 on your attached images is showing a male. Especially picture #2!
Thank you sooooooo much. I really hope your right. I have been desperate for a male one. Also while I'm on a thread about my bullfrog ill just ask are Calci worms ok for african bullfrogs (I'm not sure what you call them in America)
Last night I fed mine some calciworms for the first time just before I went to bed and now it's morning and they are all in his water bowl along with some poop. I thought he mustn't have been able to digest them but then I noticed they were moving, still alive. Anyway can he not digest them or something? I don't think he was sick and vomit them up because I also fed him some worms and crickets and they have been successfully digested. He definitely ate them all because I gave him them one by one.
I just fed him three worms and three Calci worms again and the same thing happened within an hour. What is happening? It's only Calci worms though because he managed to digest the earthworms.
Stop feeding "Calci Worms;" they are silkworm pupae (also sold as Phoenix worms) and have read similar issues of undigested worms passing and causing impaction and other problems in frogs. Only worms I use are earthworms; all insect pupae (i.e. mealworms, etc.) are fatty, can hurt frog inside with pincers, and can cause impaction with chitin exoskeleton.
Early to tell, but will go with male too .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Not sure why, but majority of marketed captive bred ABFs in USA turn out to be males. Females are harder to get. Good thing is that most keepers want males; so if they get a female, it's easy to market and try again. I've looked at locally available baby ABFs and the male/female ratio is nowhere near 50-50.

Thanks for that I'm glad to hear that everyone thinks its a male and I will stop feeding him Calci worms but they are not actually silkworm pupae. They are the larvae of Black Soldier Flys whereas silkworms turn into silkmoths. Also I usually feed him earthworms its just i wondered if he would like them as a treat. Thanks
