Lightbulb An interesting occurrence I managed to take a few photos of

Thought I'd share a few photos I took the other day of my bullfrog, Gnag, shedding her skin. It's a very interesting process to watch, and also very hard to get a photo of. I only spotted it at the end of the process, but I still think it was worth it to get a couple of shots of this rare occurrence.

So, without further redue, here's a couple of photos:

Nicely done! I've seen my treefrogs shed many times and last year I managed to photograph a couple of wild Rana clamitans in the act of shedding. They've all been on land, so I find your partially submerged shots with the skin flowing around particularly interesting.

Very cool! It's so amazing to watch frogs shed their skin.

    Thanks for the replies, guys!

I've seen my Chorus frogs shedding on land as well, although I've never managed to get a photo of it. I find seeing my big frogs shed partially submerged is just as interesting, if not more so, because, like you mentioned, you can see the skin flowing and clearly. If you've still got those photos of those Rana Clamitans shedding Brian, I'd love to see them

Agreed, Patsy! I actually didn't know frogs shed their skin until I first saw Bumpy do it!

I'm definitely going to see if I can catch another one of my amphibians shedding now, though, and keep the camera fully-charged just in case. If I manage to take a few photos of one of my amphibians shedding again, you'll be the first to see them

I posted some pictures of Olive shedding a few months back: http://www.frogforum.net/tree-frogs/...pic-heavy.html
You can see the skin going into his mouth and and how he distorts his body. I once saw them pull their skin over their head like they were taking off their shirt. I'm always fascinated by it!
