Male Bullfrog?

I was feeding my bullfrog some Dubias and Crickets and after a while he lost interest so I gave him a Morio as a treat coz I know they are bad so It was just one. While he was swallowing the Morio it bit him and he squealed and chirped. I know that only males croak but can both sexes squeal and chirp or just males?

Both sexes can make noise. Especially when in pain or distress.

Aww I was hoping that was a sign of being male. Thanks anyway though.
