Hello everyone! My love for frogs has run deep throughout my life. Growing up I spent most of my summers at a campground crawling around the pond catching frogs and all manner of critters and then letting them go.
When I was 18 my mum got me a Red Eye Tree Frog for graduation but unknown to us the owner gave us 100% wrong information. He was in a 9 gallon ZooMed tank with a water bottom with small pebbles, a bowl for food, a cork background, one little plant, and a light. I misted him constantly as I was told and fed him meal worms with calcium. Everything he said I did. He only lasted 2 months. He got one of the worst bacterial infections many had ever seen and even after bringing him to a vet and even begging for help from Tufts (Who told me very rudely that it was "too bad" when I couldn't afford $150 alone JUST to walk in the door when all I wanted was a point in the right direction to help my vet and I figure out his problem). The week before ChaCha's death is when I learned just how wrong nearly all pet stores are.
In losing him it opened my eyes to many of the horrible things people are told in ignorance and since then I have been fighting to spread the knowledge of as many species as I can. About a year after I lost ChaCha I got 4 itty bitty Red Eye babies [Donatello (Normal), Leonardo (Normal), Michelangelo (Xanthic), and Raphael (Xanthic)] for a 55 that my dad and I set up beautifully. It had a custom home-made Great Stuff background that we stuck cups in to hold plants, a water fall, and wood and plants all over. It just looked awesome. I had them nearly a year when disater struck. I lost one mysteriously one day to a completely unknown cause. Leonardo got a bacterial infection young and thankfully I was able to cure him of it. It stunted his growth though but he did well otherwise. Two of them prolapsed on the very same night and dispite several days of trying everything my old frog forum suggested I had to put them down on my birthday because I couldn't see them in pain any longer. That left me with little Leonardo for awhile before another bacterial infection hit. He passed the night before his vet appointment.
I went about another year before I could look at frogs again. That is when I got into African Clawed Frogs. I jokingly refer to them as "bombproof" and currently have an adult male and female and two juvies, one of which is a reticulated albino my LFS got in and sold without knowing what they were. The ACFs are fun but they just aren't the same as a tree frog.
The other day I finally talked my mum into letting me get a Dumpy. I was so stoked. We picked up a 18x18x24 Exo Terra with a bunch of fake plants and all the extras. I named the lil fellow Buddah and I was smitten. Less than 48 hours after I got him he was gone. The night before he was bouncing around and eating up crix with gusto and the next morning I found him maybe 20 minutes after he passed. Not sure if he had Red Leg or not as his hind legs looked very red but I'm not sure if it was pooled blood. Needless to say it just crushed me... He had seemed so healthy but I didn't want to bother him too much as he adjusted, hence not noticing if his legs were red before. When I brought him back in to show the store and get my money back I looked in on the last one they had and it didn't look at all good. All but curled up on the log with eyes half closed and just sickly.
Today I went to the local herp store to get a baby Dumpy after tearing down the tank and cleaning it. I walk in and of course they sold the last two an hour before. Next store we went to had Dumpies with Big Eye Frogs, Green Tree Frogs, a Crested Gecko, and a Gargoyle Gecko. Had a talk with the girl who all but rolled her eyes at me. Oh I coulda slapped her. I HATE that just because I'm a girl and 23 it means I'm stupid and everything I say is lies and how could I know anything about herps.
Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Anyways, the frog forum I used to haunt has all but fizzled out into nothingness which kills me. So here I am hoping to find some new froggy friends and maybe find someone who can help me get ahold of some healthy Dumpy's. My dream is to have a blue Dumpy one day.

Welcome! Hope you find some better luck. Frogs are very sensitive and we here have seen many stories of here one day and gone the next. Sometimes there are underlying problems that just don't show on the surface until it is too late.
There are many members here that are experienced with the frogs you have mentioned. You will find a lot of good information and help here.
