Default Toads and Frogs in the same habitat?

So i was wondering if toads and frogs can be housed in the same habitat? I do not have a frog yet but i would like to catch one this summer and i only have the one tank. If they can be housed together what do i need?

Frogs and toads all release toxic skin secretions of various degrees, and housing different species in a tank together can be potentially hazardous. Additionally, our native toads are also essentially terrestrial while our native frogs are largely aquatic (if it's a Ranid you're looking to get) and thus have rather different housing requirements.

The safest option is always separate tanks for different species. This goes double (or triple) for anyone new to keeping frogs.

Please follow Brian's suggestions. As a rule of thumb, you'd almost never different frog and toad species together. I would even go as far as not to house more than one individual per tank. One reason is that the bigger one will eat the smaller one if they're house in the same habitat. Most amphibians are not discriminate eaters as they will eat whatever that fits in their mouths. And two, like Brian said, amphibians are likely toxic so if they eat each other they will all ended up dying. Three, housing multiple amphibians may risk disease transmission, especially with wild caught animals. If you had previously kept amphibian in your tank, I would suggest to decontaminate before you put a new animal in it by rinsing it with diluted bleach (in a ratio of 1 part bleach per 10 parts water).

Agreed frogs and toads are very cannibalistic.
So I agree with Namio and Brian on this 100%

    Agreed also.

Just think of it as a way to have fun and decorate more tanks. This way you can enjoy each species in a smaller version of their natural habitat.
