Humidifier ideas?

I bought a Zoo Med Repti Fogger, and so far I've been happy with it. But now, I'm having issues with it. The first one I bought on Amazon, it went back within 30 days because it would make this horrid whining sound and wouldn't put out any fog or anything. The second one I got just started doing the same and I've had it for 2 or so months. I have to tap the side of it for it to start working and it does this on and off throughout the day. What I was thinking was putting in a misting system. I work at Home Depot so I can ask some friends about the set up, but I was wondering if this is a good idea? Does anyone else have any ideas as far as keeping the humidity in there? Thanks for any advice to come!

Were you using distilled water for the fogger? You can definitely install a makeshift misting system though

I was using treated water. I add some drops into the water I use to dechlorinate it. I used to use the filtered drinking water, but its still acting the same...

You gotta use distilled, otherwise problems will occur. It's not the hardiest piece of equipment, but distilled water will lengthen the lifespan. Any hard water will mess it up. However, I think it would be cool to install a nice timed misting system. That would work as well.

I've been told by many people not to use distilled... I do appreciate your feed back all the same though! I think that I will look into a misting system. For such a small space it shouldn't be too expensive. I think it will also help to get it everywhere too. I feel my fogger isn't doing much unless it's on high, then it drowns my crickets. I'll show the final result if I do go with a misting system.

Really? I use a fogger with distilled water, and it works perfect. Hard water will mess it up. Anyways, I would like to see the misting system. I was thinking of doing that for my poison dart frog. Good luck!

If you're simply looking to raise the ambient humidity, have you considered modifying a personal humidifier? A misting system would merely drench the entire substrate, wouldn't it? Well, I don't have any experience with misters so I dunno. Anyway I use an ultra sonic cool mist one, from Walgreens, for my Pyxie frog, with some obvious modifications:

I used to use the ReptiFogger myself, but then it started making these whining noises (just as yours did) that drove me nuts. And I fueled it with distilled water from day one, too. I was inspired to do this with an ultra sonic personal when I saw thread about somebody doing something very similar with the exact some unit as I have. It cost around the same (maybe less) as the ReptiFogger to make, but it runs much more quietly and, according to some, will last much longer. Even holds much more water at a time, up to 1.2 gallons.

As there's only one setting on the unit pictured, it puts out a BUNCH of mist, so I would suggest making sure Frog's cage is well ventilated (mine's a 24L x 18W x 12H exo terra, plenty of built-in ventilation there), and preferably rig it to a Hygrotherm. I've got mine programmed to keep my Pyxie's ambient humidity between 70 and 80%.

I actually read about your humidifier on the enclosures page lol. I just, wanted something a little, smaller and I was thinking something that I could put misters all around the inside of the enclosure. I just dont feel the humidifier gets enough humidity in all the right places until the whole tank is filled with fog. It might just be me being nit-picky, but I don't like the way my GTFs look when the humidity is at 94% and they look shriveled like a raisin.....
